The
city of Brasov is located in the middle of the
country, between 45º23'13'' - 46º 12'
12'' latitude North and 24º39'44'' - 26 º
6’11’’ longitude West; with
some other words, the city of Brasov is 88,6 km
wide on latitude (North border is located in Leaota
mountain and the northern border is Homoradelor
hills, NV Drauseni village) and 112.6 km (western
border is in Lunca Oltului next to Ucea de Jos
and the eastern border is in Tatarului Mountains
at Buzaielului springs.
The Brasov County has got the
following 8 neighbors: county of Arges ( SW, on
a distance of 72 km), Dambovita (South on 15 km),
Prahova ( on SE on 73 km), Buzau (in SE border
on 2 km), Covasna (East, on 144 km), Harghita
(North on 35 km), Mures (NW on 28 km) and Sibiu
(W on 88 km). the Southern border of this county
towards the counties of Arges, Dambovita, Prahova
and Buzau – a total length of 160 km and
generally oriented towards West East, it lies

(successively the Fagarasului Mountains, the Piatra
Craiului mountains, the Leaota Mountains, the
Bucegi Mountains, the Baiului Mountains, the Ciucasului
Mountains, the Tatarului Mountains) interrupted
by mountain passages (Bran, Predeal, Predelut,
Bratocea, Tabla Butii) that helps the communication
with the counties from Muntenia.
On the eastern
border the valley space of Brasov between Teliu
and Lunca Calnicului, then Oltului Valley between
Lunca Calnicului and Augustin offer a wide aperture
towards the Covasna County. The communications
with the county of Harghita are made by help of
the valleys wide enough of Homorodului ,Small
and Big, while towards the Mures county the natural
barrier of the major river between the hydrographic
basins of Olt and Mures is conquered by a railway
tunnel (at Beia) and by the modern roads (DN13). |

the physical and geographical point of view, the
county of Brasov is located at the junction of
three natural units: Eastern Carpathians, Meridional
Carpathians and Transylvanian Plateau. Therefore,
a highlighted complexity and diversity of the
geological and geo-morphological features, reflected
in the other components of the land shaft coat
- climate, waters, soils, vegetation, fauna and
finally in the social and geographical characteristics
of the land – population distribution, the
network of dwellings and ways of communication,
lands agricultural and forestry use, soils resources
